All Lumi Radix programs, such as SPIKE, SURGE, and SCORE, are developed by highly renowned educators, scientists, and academic / industry experts with extensive experience in mentored training. Lumi Radix advisory board carefully reviews and selects each project within our programs and maintains good oversight during individual project execution.

Any current or past high school or undergraduate student fulfilling the eligibility criteria can enroll in Lumi Radix programs. Even if a student has completed their high school or undergraduate college education some years back, they are most welcome to explore their growth opportunities with Lumi Radix. As part of the background check, any ex- or drop-out student must produce evidence of (past) school/college enrollment (or completion) and submit at least one recommendation from an active faculty member from that institution.

Mentors are knowledgeable individuals with the expertise and experience to undertake projects and guide mentees. Our mentors can come from an academic background, such as a professor, a junior faculty member, or a post-doc. Alternatively, they may have extensive industry experience and a relevant graduate or master’s degree. Senior graduate or master’s students can also work as mentors under the supervision of senior faculty. All mentor profiles are carefully screened, and project proposals are pre-approved by the Lumi Radix Advisory Board and/or Scientific Committee to ensure project goals are met.

Lumi Radix programs aim to groom future thought leaders with the confidence to change and shape a better world. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and commitment are the primary skills that we believe are essential to identifying and solving future problems. We intend to expose students to advanced concepts and training and strengthen their character and commitment to overcome all barriers in their careers—and beyond.

Students participating in Lumi Radix programs who complete their projects will be eligible for a Certificate and a Letter of Recommendation from their mentors. On request of the students, Lumi Radix can also directly submit a transcript detailing student activities and conduct supporting their college/graduate applications. Some high-value projects run by universities are part of credit courses, where students can earn university credits. The work students perform during their projects may also result in being part of abstract submissions and publications, which can also strengthen their college/graduate applications. All Lumi Radix programs aim to provide students with maximum growth opportunities, and it will be up to the students to make the most of the resources provided.

The application process is described in detail under the “Apply” section. To apply for a project, the student candidate usually reviews and prioritizes the available project listings based on their interests. The Lumi Radix team then collects all applications in the order they are received and forwards them, along with personal statements, letters of recommendation, and student profiles, to each project mentor for review. Once a student is matched with a mentor and project, the Lumi Radix support team will notify them of their admission decision and provide the necessary details for effective participation.

Lumi Radix’s online mentorship SPIKE and Advanced SPIKE programs aim to introduce the candidate to cutting-edge technologies and research topics to develop interest. The programs are structured to gradually teach advanced and complex subjects, ensuring students understand principle concepts well. Each project lists requirements regarding background training experience, anticipated time commitments, and project details. Depending on each student’s capability and commitment, the project mentor can adjust the scope and schedule of a project. Lumi Radix monitors each project closely to accomplish pre-established project goals satisfactorily.

 SURGE projects offer hands-on experience and are limited to each session. These projects are also the most competitive among the applicants. The majority of successful SURGE students have completed our SPIKE program and successfully established their credentials for the relevant SURGE project.   

Individual project fees depend on the project type, mentor expertise, duration, and any additional resources required for successful completion. Each project has a unique fee structure, which is communicated to the student once he/she is matched with a project mentor. 

The Lumi Radix staff performs much work to match the student candidate with the right mentor in the field of their choice. The registration fee covers some resources and activities needed in applicant evaluation and matching activities. Also, the registration fees help filter out non-serious applicants, allowing the staff to focus on more deserving student candidates.

The Lumi Radix team considers every student’s ability and experience and works diligently to match them with appropriate projects. Yet, some popular high-impact projects could attract numerous applicants far beyond the resource and time capacities of mentors. Suppose a student cannot match their top choice projects and is unsatisfied with other project listings. The applicant student can wait and consider forthcoming project opportunities. The Lumi Radix team will continue efforts to match the student with an appropriate project for two years from the registration dates. After two years, an applicant must register again with a new application.

Lumi Radix collects the full tuition fee only after a student has been admitted and matched with a mentor. The applicant and parent/guardian will receive an email confirming the match, along with a link to accept the offer and information about submitting fees.

Applicants have seven days to accept or withdraw from the matched project. If no response is received within seven days—after two reminder emails—a portion of the tuition will be charged as a penalty, and the project will be offered to the next eligible candidate.

If an applicant withdraws more than seven days after accepting a project, the full tuition fee will be charged.

Fees are charged only after the student has been matched and accepted by the mentor for a project. This ensures transparency and commitment before payment. Once you are matched with a project, you will receive an invoice with detailed payment instructions to confirm payment and remit the required fees within 7 days of the match. 

Lumi Radix aims to help develop responsible individuals for a better future. Students applying and participating in any Lumi Radix program must show accountable behavior. They should be able to respond to offer notifications in time. Failure to do so, despite reasonable reminders, will be considered a wilful constraint on the project opportunity, which could have gone to a more deserving candidate. The penalty also compensates for a part of the time and effort put in by the Lumi Radix team to create a unique development opportunity for the right candidate.
